Unprecedented competition brings together amateurs, pros and legends at Barros’ bowl in Florianopolis

The trio formed by pro Pedro Barros, legend Leo Kakinho and amateur Felipe Caltabiano took it all at the first ever Red Bull Skate Generation, a unique competition that rocked the Brazilian skateboarding scene at Pedro’s own RTMF bowl, in the tropical paradise-like backyard of his Florianopolis home.

Red Bull Skate Generation’s final round pitched together six teams, each comprised of three athletes – one pro, one legend and one amateur – battling for bowl supremacy. The team led by legend Steve Caballero (together with pro Allan Mesquita and amateur Vi Kakinho) took runner-up honors. “This is the warmest crowd I’ve ever witnessed in my four visits to Brazil so far,” admitted Caballero, clearly a fan favorite for the crowd of nearly 1,000.

“Having Steve Caballero riding in my own house was an honor I’ll never forget,” added X-Games gold medalist Barros.

Other notable RBSG contestants included five-time vert skateboard world champ Sandro Dias, legend Jeff Grosso and rising Argentinean star Milton Martinez.
