Volcom “Wild in the parks“ is the kind of event you always hear of, if you’re just a bit into the skate scene. But are you sure you understood the philosophy behind the contest name?

Just take a look at the statement from Volcom:

“Wild In The Parks was born when we noticed something needed to change in the amateur skateboard contest scene. We decided to take a different path, the road less traveled, and offer something new and entirely different. For those of you that are fed up with days of 1 minute runs, over and over again, we came up with a new jam format that alleviates both stress and boredom at events. Wild In The Parks is for young up and coming skaters to come out and show their skills. Think of the event like a best trick contest; skaters are judged on the tricks they pull, never on their bails. Wild In The Parks is about giving back to the skaters. With this in mind, the series is entirely free. There are absolutely no entry fees, so anyone can enter. There are three divisions; 14 and Under, 15 and Over and Open (pro-am)”

Isn’t it just amazing? Maybe they’re just words..but I found this really inspiring..and I’d like to think that these few rows could make you thinking too about nowaday’s skateboard contest.

This session took place on 24 of June in Eindhoven, at the well-known Area51 Skatepark, the kids chewed up the place, was just a sick event in one of the sickest european indoor skatepark!

    • The team Volcom is on the road filming for the new snowboarding video project IP2, and current clips of their experience will be uploaded to give a little insight to what is going down. Clip #1 is Seth Huot with a creative gap.

    • Volcom Stone presents Knot Again! Miniramp contest at the ISPO 2012 in Munich with 8000€ prize money! The contest is limited to 50 skaters and will take place at the Stone Harbor from January 29th to 31th. The competition takes place on Monday 30th, best tricks on Sunday and a double-trouble tournament on Tuesday. The ramp will be refreshed again this year and the Foggy Bottoms Tavern will be open everyday…

    Tuesday January 31:
    Practice+ Double trouble tournament from 3.30 pm to 4.30pm 2 min run with the partner of your choice, best team run wins

    • Volcom Stone celebrated the European Wild In The Parks Championships at the outdoor skatepark in the city of Copenhagen, Denmark.
    Skaters that qualified at their local WITP around Europe gathered in Copenhagen and spent the day to compete and have fun. So there were not only the usual always present skaters, but also the local heroes and the up-and-coming shredders that you’ll probably see everywhere in a few time. The contest was explosive, amazing and plenty of prizes from guitars to bikes, ipods, apparel and stuff.
    Don’t forget: Bruno, Viktor, Hermann and Jaako will skate at the 25 000$ WITP Champs in Austin Texas in 2 weeks!

    • Volcom Stone continues with its original Wild In The Parks skateboard series.

    In its 8th European season, Volcom Stone’s WITP stops in 20 locations from Portugal to Russia.

    The LATVIAN stop will be at RIGA Volcomparka on Saturday 13th August. The ENGLISH stop will be at Uckfield Skatepark on Saturday 13th August. The FINNISH stop will be at Suutarila Skatepark (Helsinki) on Saturday 13th August.

    With cash prizes for the Pro/Am division in addition to the 14 and under and the 15 and over categories, Wild in the Parks is a showcase for all talents and ages. And as usual, these contests are entirely free! Top 3 of each category will qualify to the European WITP Championships on the 24th of September in Copenhagen, Denmark, with more prizes and cash to win as well as trips to the world WITP champs in the USA ($25,000 prize money).

    The Volcom Stone’s Amsterdamn Am is one of the most important skating contests in Europe, gathering skaters from all over the world in a three day of skating event with tons of riding, huge tricks and music. The beginning of July saw the 2011 edition, in collaboration with SPoTlight productions.
