We’re proud to present on Candiesmagazine.com a very young girl from Val di Susa, Italy. She really rocks and she does her best to progress. She’s already spent on the skis 15 of her 18 years of life. Surely a lot of you already know her, and the others…well, are going to hear a lot about her, that’s sure! Charlotte “Charlie” Brangero!!!!

1.Hi Charlotte! Welcome on Candiesmagazine.com! Where do you come from, how old are you and how long have you been skiing?
Ciaoo! Thanks for the welcome! I live in Sauze D’Oulx in Val di Susa, I just turned 18 and I’m skiing since I was 3!

2.Sponsors and hook-ups?
By now it’s my family, out-of, and I cooperate with Movment. But for the next year I’m in touch with “Black Crows” of Bruno Compagnet to take part at the FWQ(freeride world qualification).

3. What was that pushed you to try your very first freestyle skis? Was it an idea that grew slowly in your head, or there’s something in particular that provoked it suddenly?
I did a lot of years of skiing and slaloms which made me almost hate the skis! Luckily there was my mother’s partner, Carlo Facelli, a passionate freerider and ski instructor, who used to take me with him freeriding and he even allowed me to spend a season with the freeskicamp!
And most of all, he made me love skiing again!

4. What are your favourite structures? And which park do you think was the best last year in Italy?
I love kickers! Unluckily here where I live the parks are not so good… The park of Prato Nevoso instead is nice, there aren’t huge kickers but they’re good, I think it can turn in something cool!
Surely the best Italian park is Livigno! I’d love having it near home!

5. What’s your favourite trick at the moment? And the one you’re trying to land?
I’d say switch5safty! Last winter I wanted to land cork5tail, I always land it on the airbag! But there was too little snow to try it.. So I hope I’ll land it this summer in Les 2 Alpes!!

6. What do you think about the contests in Italy? Do you like them, or you prefer riding with your friends?
They’re beginning to be good, but there aren’t enough women in the contests! There’s no competition! I like freestyle contests, but they stress me too much, so I prefer riding and chilling in the park.
Instead, I love freeride contests and I take part to a lot of them. Carlo and I are cooperating with I-FREE to organize a freeride contest here in Sauze, and it’ll be called the Free Respect!

7. What are your projects for the future? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In a year I’ll be ski instructor, but first of all I wanna ride and freeride a lot! I’d like so much traveling to ride a lot of mountains in the world and to progress more and more. And I’d like to involve more and more people teaching them freeski!

8. There aren’t many girls in Italy that go big freeskiing. In your opinion, who’s particularly good at the moment?
Surely Ary!! (read the exclusive itw here) She rocks! She’s powerful and stylish, and she’s different from all the other girls that are often scared.. she’s not intimidated by the kickers size!

9. The best moment vs the worst moment?
A very cool moment – and terrible at the same time – was last winter, when I broke my nose landing from a too big cliff… at first I started to cry and there was plenty of blood, then I started to laugh until I reached the bar. But when I saw myself in the mirror I started to cry again saying “I don’t wanna have a crooked nose for all my life!!!”
Anyway, the best moments are when I’m with a pumped and skilled bunch of friends, so I have fun and I learn at the same time!
Instead, the worst moments were when I had to slalom while all the others where shredding! But it was useful in the end, because it helped me to pass the exam for the istructors selection.

10. What kind of feelings skis can give you? Could you live an altenative life without them?
They make me feel well, free and most of all I have fun! Skiing has always helped me even in the worst moments. Without them I’d feel empty and without goals to reach!

11. Have you ever tried any other freestyle sport? Snowboarding, or maybe skating, surfing?
When I was 13-14 I started to ride motocross with my dad, who was a champion in the past and an amateur now. But it didn’t last a lot. I also break danced until I was 15.
When I was sick of skiing I tried to ride snowbobs, but I didn’t get involved! I like skating, but it hurts too much, so I prefer riding a longboard when I’m in Les 2 Alpes!

12. How do you prepare yourself for an important riding day? Do you have any particular ritual, or you simply go partying?
I like parties, but I think there are periods to party and periods to ski! You must balance the two things, of course you mustn’t loose to much time with the parties! Before an important riding day I go to bed early and I take a good coffee with something else in the morning;)!
