Volcom “Wild in the parks“ is the kind of event you always hear of, if you’re just a bit into the skate scene. But are you sure you understood the philosophy behind the contest name?

Just take a look at the statement from Volcom:

“Wild In The Parks was born when we noticed something needed to change in the amateur skateboard contest scene. We decided to take a different path, the road less traveled, and offer something new and entirely different. For those of you that are fed up with days of 1 minute runs, over and over again, we came up with a new jam format that alleviates both stress and boredom at events. Wild In The Parks is for young up and coming skaters to come out and show their skills. Think of the event like a best trick contest; skaters are judged on the tricks they pull, never on their bails. Wild In The Parks is about giving back to the skaters. With this in mind, the series is entirely free. There are absolutely no entry fees, so anyone can enter. There are three divisions; 14 and Under, 15 and Over and Open (pro-am)”

Isn’t it just amazing? Maybe they’re just words..but I found this really inspiring..and I’d like to think that these few rows could make you thinking too about nowaday’s skateboard contest.

This session took place on 24 of June in Eindhoven, at the well-known Area51 Skatepark, the kids chewed up the place, was just a sick event in one of the sickest european indoor skatepark!

Final day of the Vans off the Wall Varazze spring contest (if you missed day 1 and day 2, you can see the report+the pictures here: DAY 1 ; DAY 2).

In front of a crowded audience and under the brightest sun, the 21 skaters struggled with all their strenght to gain a place on the podium.

They performed an incredible number of tricks and they drew new lines on the ramp during the jam. Finally, here the list of the awarded skaters:
