I took this pic a year ago and it’s still my fav skateboarding shot – it’s the only one I have in my room ! I was in Turin at the Vans Royal Challenge, an amazing day for me. It was my very first event with photo credits, and shooting next to historic photographers like Benjo and Marcello (Goggio) was so sick!
And the contest was gnarly! Greg Nowik did a huge amount of unbelievable tricks! I took this indy nosebone while he was nearly on my face – Unluckily I was using a 17 mm and I junked a lot of shots that day!
I was mad and happy about that day, and I realized how funny is shooting at contests! So thank you Greg for serving me this one!

Exactly 1 year ago, we started to create and work on candiesmagazine.com.
A lot of things happened during this first year, and it’s quite impossible to describe all the emotions and all the endless hours of hard work we went through.

What we wanna say today, is a big thank you to all our readers, to all the facebook and twitter fans, to all those who believe in the project and even to those that every now and then take a distracted look at the site.

Props to all the skaters, bikers, surfers, snowboarders and the crews that came ride with us and gave us the chance to make some memorable sessions. Much love!

We hope to keep on growing with the project, and surely we’ll work even harder. But now it’s time to celebrate: Happy first Birthday Candiesmagazine!
