Shredding Sardinia

Yes, finally I met my fb friend Fabrizio Ara during a Red Bull surf and skate contest in Badesi, west Sardinia. Nice and smart guy, I saw him first waiting for a lift to the start of a downhill session and it was like if we knew in person from a long time. We chatted for a while, I was there expressly to take this interview, he was changing the wheels at his new Bombsquad board, a little bit nervous about the incoming contest.
After few runs and many pictures, the first thing I noticed was that Fabrizio enjoys skating and chilling with friends, embodying the right way of life that you can expect from a skater.
He is only 24, but looks younger, although he is really focused on what he looks for…
Longboarding since only two years, he actually collaborates with Wipeout Boardshop, Riptide, Surf Rodz and Bombsquad, showing good skills both in sliding and bombing and a particular talent in taking videos and pictures of what he does on the asphalt. Always looking for new partnerships to get the aim of being one of the first pro longboarders in Italy, Fabrizio – aka “Bibi” – produces a lot of attractive images and videos, showing at the same time equipment and skills, with his team mates and the riders that often meets during skate trips and contests.
On the tube everyone can see video clips like “Longskate Arbus: Shut Up and Ride” (actually the most watched) or Longskate Arbus – Bomborn”.
One of the most recent videos seen on his fb page was about a young guy, Marco Garau, a green talent growing to collect the passion of his “instructor”; “he is my pupil, I only skate with him, I want to bring him to the top” told me Fabrizio. Good luck and Good job!
One year ago mr. Ara also founded Longskate Arbus, an association made to collect longskate lovers in south Sardinia trying to promote this amazing sport in a country – Italy, I mean – where, sadly, only soccer is considered, by a huge percentage of people. Now, after many contests, broken bones, worn wheels, pictures ad video clips I can say that thanks to guys like Fabrizio, Sardinia is one of the most involved places in Italy with a lot of youngsters trying to learn as soon as possible all the secrets to bomb and shred down the sickest lines.
