Alex Cageggi Interview
June 21st, 2012 by admin received Comments Off TweetHey Alex! You appeared several times on our pages, but we still hadn’t your real itw. But now the time has finally come! Here we go, with the first, classic question:
How old are you, where are you from and how long have you been skating?
I‘m 25 years old, I come from Catania and I‘ve had fun with the stick for 11 years now!
Sponsors and hook ups?
Minoia Board co. SkullCandy, Etnies
Can you still remember why did you start skateboarding? And what brought you to your very first ollie?:D
Well… I must say it all happened by chance (but i believe that nothing happens by chance in our life
) Anyway, a classmate of mine, Claudio Staccioli (ex sk8er) a day (it was a fat Tuesday) introduced me to Marco Barozzi, a very strange man. He used to enter other people house to steal spray pant cans… ahahahahah, well, that day I had a lot of fun and between a can and the other Barozzi told me: ‘’if you like skateboarding, then buy a deck and come skateboarding!’’ and that was exactly what I did! XD
What do you think of the Genovese scene? Is it evolving, going towards the right direction, or you‘d like it to be different?
Man, I’m afraid the Genovese scene is going to die with us. Nowadays kids are lazy… they don’t want to do anything and most of all they don’t want to learn anything. They’re raised just like chicks! Of course I’d like to see something different.. I guess everybody does, isn’t it?
We saw you in quite every Italian contest, at least in those who people go big! Do you like competition or you maybe prefer chilling sessions with your friends?
Contests are damn good, you can skate and challenge the best skaters around… but skateboarding with your whole crew… there’s no comparison… You know what I mean!?!?!
Talking about the crew, last summer you went to a trip with your friends of Skatetoua, are you planning something similar this year? Are you working on some other video parts?
Hahhhaah that was as awesome trip!
Anyway I don’t know, because we leave far from each other and probably we’ll decide where to go directly on the road.. not bad at all
I’m sorry but you’ll have to wait a bit for the next video part. Roberto (lo Spesso) Sacchetti is studying hard and Carlo Cassan is pretty busy at the moment!
Which was the coolest contest you took part this year?
There was a best trick contest organized by Minoia Board co. In Brescia and it was really sick. All the contest are good.. but the one I prefer the most is The Big One, June 23-24 in Seregno (MI)… awesome!
Will you be at the Blast the Big One this year? I think so eheh! Have you already planned some trick?
Yes… during the last two editions the guys pushed it hard
I won’t reveal my trick
So what could I say?? I’ll quote Fabio Colombo… this year we’re going to have fun (great Fabio)
What’s your favourite spot, the one that makes you feel at home?
The skatepark in Genova Sestri Ponente heheh
it’s my favourite spot just like I live next to it… how sad hehehe!
I personally love your flips over the scariest stairsets. It seems to be your trademark. But what’s your favourite trick? And what’s the one you’d like to land soon?
Fs blunt hardflip out ahhahaahh… Impossible!! only in the videogames xD
What are your sources of inspiration? Music, pro skaters, video parts that hype you before a session?
Just before a session I watch some of Rayn Scheckler’s tricks… but there’s nothing better than a joint and a good beer to hype me! XD
What does Alex Cageggi do when he’s not skateboarding? Other sports? Or you prefer chilling in some other ways?
Well… to be honest, in this period when I’m not skateboarding I’m chilling on the beach
That’s relaxing…more or less
Last lines are yours, end as you like it!
Thanks Candies Magazine for the itw, I say hello to my crew (Lo Spesso,Mat il francese,Cassan, Daddy,Ema (Bestia) and Andrea Valle (il rampettaro
, to the Ignoramps guys and then… mom and dad, all my family, my girlfriend, the guys at Minoia and everybody I forgot to cheer! … Bellaaaaa
Yo Alex!
