Get Healthy prod’s “Goin’ Green” full video review
July 20th, 2011 by admin received Comments Off TweetWhen I read the description of this video – “Goin Green: a bunch of Midwest kids you’ve never heard of” – I was sure to be in front of something epic. And I knew it was time for a new video review here on Candiesmagazine.com.
US shred crews are used to release the sickest videos when they’re “hungriest and foolish” (thanks Steve Jobs for such inspiring word of wisdom).
Plus, Midwest kids are so damn hardcore and steezy! I was just getting a damn fine combo!
You understand what I’m talking about in the very first 3:30 min of the video.
It’s really the case to sit comfortable and enjoy the video to the fullest, so take off your Vans shoes, take a fresh drink from the fridge and then glue yourself to the monitor for the opening part of Erik Overson. He’s riding in no more than 20 cm of snow and you’ll probably start wondering about how many years you’d need to land the triple kink he nails at the end of his part. Aidan Flanagan could be the video part of the year, with this super stylish funky tunes, while Justin Heningin’s showin what “urban shredding” means to him with some of the sickest tail presses and fakie tail presses to date. Ricky Koukal’s opening trick is a 50-50 to mute to 50-50 on a kink. Enough said? Joey Peterson is the sort of street punk you just have to be afraid of, I love the way he bs rodeo down a stupid snowdrift.
Hold on through the funny “Friends” part (Jennifer Aniston not included here, maybe next season) and then there is Mitch Kirby getting nasty on a bs board 270 front on a strange kinked curved rail. I’m still watching the part to be able to write down the other tricks. Straight in a row Nate Blomquist, Jon Overson, Justin Theroux are showin how many moves you can put down on a rail. There aren’t so many spots in the video, but the variety of tricks is really huge. Each rider is goin’ to the fullest to make his part very addictive. I think Jesse Paul needs no snow to ride, as far he’s riding dirt and metal in his part, landing also some nice street gaps and really technical rail tricks. Super.
Edited and directed by Sam Jorgesen, filmed by Sam himself and Aidan Flanagan.
In a few words: in my opinion the video is so sick, and in relation to the budget involved, way better than a lot of over-hyped pros prod.
You got this lesson: you don’t need money to make a shred video. You don’t need to live in Colorado, Mammoth, AK, or even the Alps. You barely need snow. Seems like the very first need is a SNOWBOARD and tons of commitment. Take notes buddy, now go shredding !
