Since the very first time I saw Camila riding in a video I’ve been truly amazed by her style and the amplitude and difficulty of her tricks. She’s surely one of the most powerful girls I’ve ever seen riding, and she does it wearing a nice smile. She’s going to leave you mouth open, but probably a lot of you already know who am I talking about. Here we go, Camila Harambour!
Hi Camila, thank you for your time! It’s such a pleasure having you on candiesmag pages. Let’s start with the easiest, how old are you, where are you from and where are you currently living?
Hi!! Thank YOU!! I’m 21 years old, I was born in Punta Arenas, Chile, (almost at the end of the world haha), but I’ve been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the past 8 years.
Sponsors and hook ups?
Sponsors: 34R (Free For Ride), Eighties Bike Co., Bodacious Ind and of course mom and dad!
Hook ups: King Kong, Thrill, Andres Harambour (photographer)
At what age did you start riding? What or who was that pushed you to that?
I got my first bike for Christmas when I was 12 years old. My older brothers used to ride and all their friends came home everyday so I was always with them using their bikes. We’ve been riding dirtbikes with my dad since I have memory so I guess riding BMX was just something else to do all together
.
Favorite spot:
I’ve been in Greenville for a month so I guess the warehouse is my new favorite place to ride! Haha besides that, definitely Helltrack in Rosario, Argentina!
What bike are you shredding at the moment?
I’m using the Argentinean rider Christian Balmaceda’s signature frame: Eighties Buffalo. Then almost everything else is purple 34R stuff!!

Favourite trick in your portfolio, and new trick you’re trying to land. I’ve read something about a flair?
I love Barspins and turndowns! And yeah, I’m working on whips and hopefully I land my first flair soon!
How’s riding with the guys? Do you ever feel intimidated or you simply go and kick their ass?
hahaha I just love riding with them. I guess that riding with my brothers at first helped me to don’t be so intimidated and get used to riding with boys.
How’s your typical day?
Well that really depends on where I am… the month I’ve been in Greenville I’ve been riding every single day. But at home I only ride once or twice a week.. If I’m studying I’ll spend most of the day at college and then hang out with my dogs, ride if I can, have some coffees with my mom, ride motocross if I can too, be in the computer and I don’t know… I always find something to keep me busy.
It rarely happens to see women who ride like you do, most of all when talking about bikes. Have you ever encountered any kind of difficulties, any step that made you think to give up?
Give up? Not really… My parents have always taught me to fight for what I want and as riding is what I want the most it just doesn’t make sense to give up on it. I guess its sometimes hard for women to ride because it definitely takes longer to be comfortable with your bike, to get used to ride with boys, get used to get hurt, learn how to fall, learn new tricks, etc, for whatever the reason is. But well, its just matter of being patient and keep doing it! Everything’s possible, just try hard enough to do it!
Why, in your opinion, there are not so many girls who ride? And what would you suggest to those who’re maybe starting?
I guess I’ve just answer this question in the one above haha
I know you also love motocross. What kind of feelings does it give you compared to bmxing?
It’s a really different feeling! Although I guess both of them are the adrenalin haha. In motocross its trying to go faster and faster, its crazy how from the sudden you can crash really bad. I try not to think about that but its hard not to sometimes. Anyway, racing is super fun! I’ve always raced against boys so I feel I’m racing against myself and I just try to enjoy is as much as I can. The starts are amazing, right after the gate goes down it’s one of the best feelings ever!
Riding a bike is surely a hard thing. Do you train in the gym or with any other sport, or you just train riding?
I try to always stay fit and keep doing something everyday. If I can ride I’ll just ride, but if I cant I rather go to the gym, go to spinning, jump in my mini trampoline (super fun!!), run, dance, or whatever I’m in the mood to do haha.
What do you do when you’re not on the two wheels?
Hang out with friends, spend time with my mom, play with my dogs, train, study…
How do you see yourself in ten years? Any plans for the future?
Ten years? Wow I don’t even now what I’m doing next semester! Haha
I don’t know… hopefully with someone, kids, riding for sure! I don’t know why but I don’t see my self either in Chile nor Argentina… maybe in Europe, who knows!
What I know is that for now I want to ride as much as I can and enjoy life wherever I am
Last question, 3favs: favourite song/band, favourite video, and favourite rider:
Songs: give me everything (pitbull ft. Ne-yo, afrojack, nayer), Irreplaceable (Beyonce), Stars of amateur hour (The Reputation).
Video: day in the life! (watch it below), I’m not much of a video watcher or however you say it haha so just leave it like that
Riders: Daniel Dhers, Matias Aristimuño, Jeremiah Smith.
Thank you so much Camila! Keep on shredding! Last line is yours, just add whatever you want!
Thank you for the interview!!! Thanks my parents for supporting me no matter what, my brothers for making me a not common girl
. Thanks to my friends, riders and not riders. And of course my sponsors 34R, Eighties and Bodacious!
