US Open Pipe, Vermount. Kazu and Kelly win the gold.
March 14th, 2011 by admin received Comments Off TweetThe US Open took place in Vermount, and luckily the weather was not too bad. Among the women is Kelly Clark who dominated. Kelly is winning every event and she’s pushing women progession a lot, thinking for example of the front 1080. Amazing! With this victory she takes home 70.000 $ and a new Mini. Not bad at all isn’t it??? Kelly says that this event has a special place in her heart. She won it five and she made a record and she’s really happy about that. She used to come to this event even before competing, then tried several times to pass the pre qualifiers, and now that she’s the queen she finds it pretty amazing.
Hannah Teter has been practicing at her home resort in Tahoe and she impressed the judges with big airs and held grabs throwing a frontside 900 and a frontside 720 stalefish—that’s $10,000 more towards her charity Hannah’s Gold.
Among the men, Kazu Kokubo is the winner. At this regard we want to give some thought to Japan and to all the people there. It’s so good that he won his second consecutive at the Open. At least a little glimmer of good news for the Japanese snowboarders. Kokubo said: “I hope my win brings a little joy and happiness to Japan.”. Kokubo won with a frontside alley-oop nosebone, front 900, Michaelchuck, frontside double cork 1080, to a Cab 1080 melon. Uoha!
Iouri Podlatchikov is second with a Cab double cork 1080, into a crippler, back 9, into frontside 1080, finishing with a Haakon flip. Kohei Kudo took third with a front 10 and back-to-back 9s in a perfectly executed run.
