Red Bull Wake of Fame
December 6th, 2010 by admin received Comments Off TweetRed Bull Wake of Fame is a huge event of wakeboarding and wakeskating and it pushes the boundaries of the sport. At the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex there are three pools that have been linked togheter for the occasion by various features – handrails, sliders, a stall wall, a corrugated pipe, a quarterpipe and a kicker – so there have been some big air tricks as well as some street jibbing.

Moreover there was also a giant gong that made a noise that energized the crowd everytime an athlete tagged it.

Some of the greatest wake athletes have been selected to compete in this new format competition. Twelve wakeboarders and six wakeskaters battled to advance to the finals, and everyone has been judged on execution, difficulty, style, amplitude and overall composition of tricks.

Among the wakeboarders it was the German Nico von Lerchenfeld who deserved the gold medal, Kevin Henshaw took the silver and Red Bull athlete, JD Webb earned the bronze. Among the wakeskaters the prize went to Reed Hansen from Florida, thanks to a front varial flip; second was Nick Taylor and third Andy Pastura.

Judges of the competition were some industry leaders like Shawn Perry, Scott Byerly, Collin Harrington, and Erik Ruck. The atheltes were hand selected and among them we list Parks Bonifay, JD Webb, Adam Errington, Brian Grubb, Nico von Lerchenfeld, Kevin Henshaw, Reed Hansen, Nick Taylor, Andy Pastura, Steel Laferty, Ollie Derome, Keith Lidberg, Shane Bonifay, Ben Horan, Brandon Thomas.
