Enimol Skateboard

December 13th, 2010 by admin received Comments Off

Probably like many other people I discovered the existence of Enimol Skateboard pretty randomly, running into some stickers attached to some curbs and woods around different skate spots.

.

The bluish pig-cheeks impressed me so much that when some months later I found Lerri himself waving brand news skate decks at the Vans Off the Wall in Varazze, I suddenly linked the events and yes, I knew I was in front of a new and pimped up! Sk8 company!

At that point sounded good to us to go a bit deeper in the topic to discover what’s really behind the catchy ass of that little pig!

Hi Lerri, thank you for your time! We know you had to switch between brand promotion, makes up of Enimol decks and apparel, skatin a bit, going to events, studying, and what the hell more?! Quite a busy living!

-First question, a big curiosity: how was born the name “Enimol” and what’s the crazy idea that lies behind the logo?

Hi! The “Enimol” name, like the company itself, was born out of nothing! The idea of making up a skate company was buzzing in my head since a while, I already tried with some friends to create some t-shirts and it wasn’t bad! But there were too many heads, with different priority and we got lost. But this initial good start gave me the right input to believe a bit more in my ideas and to propose them…so then I’ve been drawing craps for a while (can I say craps? Ehhe)..these craps were mainly animals and then “Enimol” comes out…in the beginning it didn’t like it too much, I used it just as draft name for the project I was workin on..but then I endeared to it and it became the official name.

About the draws instead, nothing but the pig butt has been saved, mainly due to the fact that the actual graphic is workin way better than I did!

-How do You make out to create a new company in Italy? It is something that started up suddenly or a long – time project?

Ups! I answered this one above :P

-If anyone occasionally read any skate magazine, he’ll not miss the amazing amount of brands that born and die in Europe and around the world. Personally speaking I think Enimol has the right attitude – funny and easy approach – takin things too seriously and being the f***d up all the time is annoying in the long run – but what’s your project? What do You think you can give as a plus to skateboarding?

So true! Never take things too seriously! I don’t pretend to give anything to skateboarding ahah! I don’t think so! I just hope to create good stuffs, stuffs that people can enjoy, regardless the graphics. The thing I love more is when guys that have been skating for something like 20 years ask me to sell them another deck cause they really enjoyed the former one! Well it’s a thing that gives me so much satisfaction!

Too bad people skating from 20 years are really a few if compared to the kids that don’t understand our graphics!

But those three stars are to hide the word “fucked”? :P

-Behind the man “Lerri entrepreneur” there’s also a “Lerri skateboarder”. Have you still the time to handle skateboarding with all these activities? Or is stress wearing you too?

HAHAHAHHA! There is also a “Lerri student” and a “Lerri gardener” that is the preferred of the seasoned middle-class ladies. Slurp!

It’s quite true that sometimes I ran out of time for Enimol, but I’m always trying to take out the time I would have used for a drink…I’m trying, at least…to be honest it’s more often time I cut out from gardening and from the chance to earn money in a more conventional way. But in the end at least I skate on weekends and some evenings!

-You’ve got always a sick style in photos, thanks to your Enimol apparel. Do you have some projects on the street wear side?

Enimol clothes you’re seeing are just prototypes, often make out at the very last moment, sometimes before a contest, just to see how people will react to it…eheheh

About that we have a lot of projects, but our big problem is that our bank deposit is in the large….I shuld spend more time shoveling in the gardens, so I could already have some shirt ready…but well, are we really such in a hurry?

-How do the shops greet Enimol? I know you’re pretty fine in northern Italy, do you have any expansion project somewhere or even abroad?

Yes in fact all the skateshops I’ve visited are more than interested in the brand! Specially for the quality of the wood! Decks are appreciated and well sold! Blablabla….and then they come to my door with salt-loaded shotguns…

During a party there was a damn mess and by fault I head-butted a girl..crazy bump for her! Eheh! I received something like 5 minutes of abuse..after a while we went drinking a beer, and talking randomly I discovered she’s the owner of a skateshop…a week later I received a new order for some decks in my mail box!

Now I’m trying to cooperate with Plywood to have a better distribution, especially in the south. Mario (Plywood’s boss) is an old contact of mine and I know we put the same passion in our works, so I’m really confident. Times ago there was also a shop in Barcelona selling Enimol, but delivery costs were a bit too high for just one shop…maybe we’ve found a solution but for the moment we’re just chatting..We’ll see if it’s possible to do something..always considering my lost deposit..

-Knodelbowl. That place is amazing and we’ll meet there a day, that’s sure. Tell us something more ‘bout it

www.knodebowl.com

Here’s the story, so I don’t have to talk more, check the site it’s very funny also! Ehhe! I don’t think I could say that I’m one of its builders, to be honest I spent one of the four years of work in Barcelona, being an asshole! But having helped Los Marciones making it real is one of the things I’m more proud of in all my life..it’s a “little heaven”, it’s the best thing that could occur in your winter.

Night sessions, full fridge, a lot of people from different places to skate it! Just amazing. I’ll give you a secret hint..there’s a plan to add some new features….shhhhhh!

Oh well and now I’m teaching kids here too! They’re crazy, I’m so jealous, they never get broken and they learn at light-speed

-Design of new Enimol decks is terrific. Excellent to me. Who’s behind all this work? Speaking generally, who’s contributing to the mind work of the brand?

Behind all design-related stuffs there’s a super hero, i guess…he want to be called Margherito Bergamini, for the friends he’s just Valvola, to the registry office is again something different! He’s smart, nice, helpful, but more than everything he’s just beautiful. He’s from Caucasian area but between legs he comes from Black Africa. About mind work instead we like to be like a big family, sharing positive feelings and enjoying each others

-Claudio Majorana is killing it going around for contests. What about Enimol Team?

Claudio Majorana is the best rider anyone could have. I’m team rider for other companies and I know what it means to struggle out like he’s doing for Enimol! Epic! There are three more riders with whom we already reached an agreement but i still have to find the right moment to show them to the world! Hahah!

-I’ve asked you like a thousand stuffs on yourself. Let’s take one about us. What do You thing about Candiesmagazine.com? do you want to give us any advice?

I like the website! You’re giving voice to a lot of different realities, and the fact you’re writing both in Italian and in English helps me out with languages!! Ahah! I also saw You are on almost all the social networks! Thanks to it I’ve discovered some new stuffs here..eheh..! I guess I’m going to ask you some hints before putting online the Enimol website!

-I don’t want to go too far, ‘cause I know you are not going to answer me anymore! I leave the last words up to you, whichever they are.

Parsley, bench, obese, honey, lightning, groin, mouse.

Thanks to Enimol, Captain Lerri, Enimol Team and the photographers that kindly offered us the sick shots of this article ((Daniel Llober http://daniellober.blogspot.com & Hubert Ferroni http://www.photontheroad.com).
