Now You’ve got a REESON!! – Reeson exclusive interview !November 23rd, 2010 by admin received Comments Off Tweet
Let’s introduce here on Candiesmagazine.com one of the hottest skateboard companies of the moment, sick team, tons of style, quite it doesn’t seem to be “just” an Italian company! We’re speaking about Reeson Skateboards, straight from the sunny and beautiful Sardinia’s island!!!
Let’s start with some easy questions: how did Reeson Skateboards start?
Hi guys, first one is always the more difficult question!
REESON officially born 1st of January 2005, even if we were already working on that project since long time before. We were just waiting for the right moment to drop in and bring REESON to live!
Everything started from my personal biggest passions: skateboarding and then art, photography, and all the life style that surrounded it. Passions that I share with my friend in this journey, Simone.
Since the beginning we decided to follow the REESON brand under any point of view, both creating our own apparel, building a REESON total look, both developing continuously the skateboards hardware.
It’s quite a lot You’re around now. How did the brand evolve since the very beginning?
Well, since the beginning we were determined about the direction that REESON would have had. Still today we don’t hesitate to trace the difficult path if we think this would be the one that will bring the right taste and feeling to our company.
Even if we’re sailing through a global economic crisis scenario, we never feel in troubles. We think that it’s the result of following our way instead of the cheaper or the more trendy one.
In fact REESON will never be a “cheap company” selling low quality goods and “made in china” decks and hardwares. Instead, it’s quite the opposite. We’re driving the brand to offer best quality products both in apparel both in hard goods, allowing us to grow up in an healthy and independent manner, even if the price is a lot of work and sometimes sacrifices.
Clothes and apparels are made and packed in Europe. All boards are from USA, since the beginning, ‘cause before to convince the public we have to convince ourselves, and we’re the strongest critics!
My tipical day usually starts with music and tunes during breakfast; once at work, the first thing I do is communication: I check my mailbox and I answer to the messages; then I spend another day into the development and the settlement of the brand REESON.
This is REESON.
Not a lot of persons could make better than You a comment on the Italian skate scene . We’re getting more names, more brands, more contests, do You think we’re going towards the right direction?
With the number of competitors rise also the quality and the attention toward the business, and this is surely positive and also quite stimulating .
In Italy we have a lot of good skaters ad companies, each one with its own peculiarity. The lack of commitment is, in my opinion, more among the Italian skate shops, who should favor Italian companies.
Pump pump pump …and….most of all…. is important to believe in the Italian Brands with solid investments and true commitment. This is the basic, the way we have to follow in the interest of brands and shops.
One of our latest slogan says “If You don’t sell REESON in Your shop, You’re not owning a true Skate Shop”.
Conclusions are up to Yourself!
What’s the meaning of skateboarding in Sardinia? Seaside contests near sand beaches and dunes, but also hardcore street spots in the suburbs. Surely a lot of us aren’t used to link Sardinia to Skateboarding, but do You think time has come for a change?
That’s exactly how You said! Skating on an island is something magic and true, something invaluable. A lot of skateparks have been built lately from north to south, everyone is getting in touch, every contest turns out to a party! The island is often visited by teams, national and international brands. We have a lot of spots here, they just need to be founded out and skated! Sometimes locations are quite sketchies, so skaters that are used to ride such places, have no troubles skating in better locations such as for example the over shot Barcelona!
If I’m not wrong it was on 2007 when we had the famous Nuragical Tour: REESON, Crème Intl., Analog Italy, then the latest tours of DC Italy, Element Europe, Murder, Madars Apse from Element Europe. Lot of big names that dropped Sardinia recently, and many more that I’m missing at the moment!
The first thing i noticed about REESON was the great care about the graphics of Your products: starting from the web design of www.reesonproject.com, getting to decks, apparels, and the stylish ads! Who’s the mind – or the artist – behind all this?
Graphic side of the brand is under care of myself and Simone too, even if lately Francesco Liori, a.k.a. “Fr3nk”, joined us . He’s the one REESON was searching for, and now is 100 % part of the REESON team! His works on REESON could be seen on next spring collection, including a signature t-shirt. Currently you could take a look at his website www.fr3nk.com.
Fr3nk will also join a new REESON division that will be introduced soon, with Luca Carta and Fabio Piccioni as official photographers, Gianluca Lai, veteran of skateboarding and surfin’ on the island, and many other names between artists, skaters, surfers, and musicians that will join the REESON Family
Let’s speak a bit about REESON Team. Franco Comba is killing it, we also saw him recently here. Who’s on the REESON boards then?
Yes Franco Comba is our latest addiction to the team, we liked him since the beginning, both for his skateboarding technical skills both for his personal behavior. We’re proud of him, also because he’s on our friends’ CMYK Shoes too. Then we have Enrico Carta, also on CMYK Shoes and Iuter , powerful skater, he just never stops, Gianmarco Pala, also on Vans Italy , technical and strong, Giulio Pala, sick style showing “skate is passion” tattooed on his forearm and Andrea “Pellekkia” Rolesu, the veteran of the team, with a sick style and huge both on streets and on vert and parks.
What are Your plans for the future? Should we met You somewhere around?
Mmmm…..Plans for the future? You mean tomorrow I guess ahah!
We’re working on different things and different projects at the moment, you’ll see some news soon
Any hot news for the 2011 season? Are you’re already thinking about new products? I see You also have an online shop, isn’t it?
Spring Summer collection 2011 is under production now and will be in shops the next spring. This time we’re going further, we got a lot of positive feedbacks and we also incremented our sales a lot, so this new collection is going to give us a lot of satisfactions!
Where for any reason, REESON goods aren’t available, you can find anything you’re looking for on our online shop! www.wipeout.it!
Since the beginning you got some top quality photography, glad to notice that! Do you have some photographers on the team too?
Our official photos published on magazines are by Luca Carta, a great photographer and a great friend, who followed the REESON team in any trip and in any session. Simone shoots for REESON too and the latest entry Fabio Picconi will help us too!
I see REESON is supporting some events too, live concerts, contests and parties! What do you have on the calendar for the immediate future?
We like to support events and contests, we also like when we’re invited as guests, we’re super happy of that and we try to be there as much as we can
Surely we’ll take part in more events around and this Fall we have been very busy from this point of view.
We’re working also for ELECTRIC DIVISION, the rock division of REESON, that since the beginning promoted and supported various stages with international artists. Next event is going to be on January!
Then we have the REESON ELECTRIC FESTIVAL, that will take place on next June. First edition has been great , with International names like Rose Camp, On Trial, Been Obscene, Seven That Spells, Zu and many more!!!!!!!!!…………Line up for next June is work in progress!
Well last line is yours: feel free to add anything You want! Thank You and see You soon!
Guys thank you for the ITW here on Candiesmagazine.com. Till now You’ve made me questions, now it’s time for me to make a question to you!!!!
“Would you suggest REESON to your Friends or to Your local skate shop?” Aahahah!!!!!….
Obviously I’d do that, you gave us tons of solid reasons to choose REESON über alles! And in this way I could also add some nice REESON boards to my photo portfolio eheh!!
Now You’ve got a REESON!!
GO REESON!!!!!!…… GO !!!!!!!………
