Andreu Lacondeguy
November 12th, 2010 by admin received Comments Off TweetI am proud to present you today another Big of the scene.
Defined as a master of dirt, well known around the world to be the third person who ever landed a double backflip, his progression is something like exponential and at the age of 21 he already has a such huge repertoire of tricks that it’d be too long to write it down.
Not to mention his victories, his first big season in freeriding was in 2006 when he got 2nd at the 26TRIx and also 2nd at the Red Bull District Ride in Catania (Sicily). In 2007 he already won the Nissan Qashqai Challenge in Milano. In October he astonished us at the Red Bull Rampage.
But it’s time to let him talk, here it comes, Andreu Lacondeguy !

Hi Andreu, thank you so much for the time you granted us.
I have to start with some “must” questions, at what age did your riding begin?
Can you remember what brought you to that?
Well i start riding around town since i was a little kid… 4 , 5 i don´t really know… i do know that my first bmx race was when i was 10… then i start building my own jumps and when i was 12 i got into dh…
after a few years racing and doing tricks in my runs i decided to try with freeride comps…
it was back in 2006 and i got second at my first dj comp… it was 26trix and it was all about fun , just like now!!
What are your sponsors?
I´m stoked about being able to work with the best companies… they support what i do and they help me every time i want to take it to the next level!
REDBULL , OAKLEY , ONEAL MX , MONDRAKER BIKES , MARZOCHI , MAVIC , UNIT CLOTHING
Your favourite spot around the world? And in Spain?
I have a few spots that i love… when its time to ride my big bike Whistler and Utah are the ones i like to be…
if i´m on my bmx bike i like Hossegor , Patrik Guimez jumps… its really chill and the jumps are amazing!
on my hardtail i like to be in Leogang Austria for the 2sixTRIX… the jumps are fun but the place is awesome…
and if i´m riding my dirt bike south california is the place to be…
What’s your favourite bike, the one with which you have the greatest fun?
right now… my big bike… Mondraker summum.. its the one that i go bigger on and its just amazing!
Who’s the biker who inspires you the most, or that inspired you in the past?
Motocross is a big influence , thats for sure… i love to see how James Stewart rides… i like corey nastazio to… i always look up to him since i was a little kid… he is like the god father of dj…
You and your brother are very close and you often ride together. How’s your relationship? Do you ever feel in competition each other? Or do you push yourselves reciprocally?
well its always cool to have someone to ride with… we have different riding styles… i just go for it and send it and he is more chill… he knows that a crash can fuck you up and take you out for a few months… i still have to learn that hahaha
You have a really huge amount of tricks. What’s your favourite one?
i love backflips… i flip bmx bikes , mountain bikes , dh bikes , pitbikes , 250 motor bikes , snowboards , wakeboards etc… its just fun being upside down…
Are you working on some new trick at the moment?
i´m building a new line that i want to jump on my dh bike… i want to doubleflip that thing and then try some fmx tricks on it!
How’s riding in Spain? How’s the Spanish scene compared to the international one?
spanish people never digs… everyone wants to ride but no one wants to build and work on jumps… i have some dirtjumps in my backyard but no one is allowed to ride them.. HAHA
During your career you have surely lived tons of great experiences, met thousands of people, overcome difficult moments and so on. What’s your best memory among these years, the moment in which you had the most fun or the experience that marked you the most?
Well i was in chile when that gnarly earth quake happen… i was sleeping and everything start shaking and shit… more that 500 people die… i was insane and kinda scary…
And traveling around the globe in 5star hotels vip in the best clubs etc its kinda cool to… haha
Tons of biker would die to be at your place. Tell us how do you feel being such a great biker, famous all over the world? Do you ever feel under pressure?
I have no pressure… i know where my limits are and what can i do… its true that people wants you to push it to the limit every day and thats cool… but you have to know that every jump can be the last one…
Tell us about the Red Bull rampage of this year. How did you find the tracks and the jumps? What’s the thing you appreciated the most in it?
Well REDBULL rampage its just the best and only real mountain bike comp ever… its wild , big , scary , insane , fun , dangerous , huge , hot…. its not a normal comp… you have to build you own line in a week… first time i walk there i was lost… i was lost for almost 2 days… then i find my line and i ride it a few times…
I wanted to be in the podium but i crash on my second run and i end up 4rth… i was a week working really hard in the desert and under rotating a flip no hander was the end off it… it was a good experience and i be back there for the next rampage for sure!!
What do you do when you’re not riding?
If I´m not riding I´m injured
Have you ever tried some other sports like surf/skate/snow/freeski? If yes, how do you find them? What kind of emotions give them to you compared to bike?
I snowboard a little bit and i was a sky racer when i was a kid… its kinda cool but… where is the dirt!???
Talking about movies. Your favourite video part ever? Do you have fun while riding for a movie or is it a little bit stressful having to do everything perfectly?
filming is my favorite thing to do… you just sesh and have funn… i like my nwd8 segment and I´m really stoked about my new WE ARE FAMILY 2 segment…. i´m double flipping a 50ft gap and some more crazy stuff… the movie is gonna be out soon!
Any project for the future? How do you see Andreu Lacondeguy in ten years?
Who knows… i don´k know what i´m gonna do in 10 minutes…
